About me

My name is Samuel Scott Gross,

and here’s a little bit about me.

I love telling stories. It’s something I’ve done for as long as I can remember. Creating intricate plots and weaving together rich symbolism and meaning can be a lot of fun. Now, what does this have to do with music?

Music is more than just a rhythm or melody. Music is itself a story. The rise and fall of melody, the shifting of beats and rhythms, and the progression of chords all come together to form a rich story, all without a single word needing to be said. And so, my focus when writing music is the same way an author would sit down and write a book. If you get a chance to listen to any of my music, try to close your eyes and let your mind wander a bit.

Some of my achievements

I graduated from Lancaster Bible College with a degree in Music Composition. While there, I wrote music for the wind ensemble, percussion ensemble, men’s ensemble, chamber singers, string orchestra, and the chorale. Some of these pieces can be found on my YouTube channel.

Additionally, I also had the privilege of scoring five short films. One at LBC, two with students from Franklin & Marshall College, two with freelance film directors. My scoring was not limited to films. I also wrote music for church devotionals and event videos.

I held my internship with Sight & Sound theaters, furthering my education in the film scoring business.
